June 23, 2018: Midsimmertwirre Mini-Festival of Classical Music by Paulus Folkertsma a Great Success
The new Aldeboarn Foarút Foundation, in collaboration with the Paulus Folkertsma Foundation, looks back on a very successful festival. Both foundations are proud that so many people were able to enjoy the performances at various venues. This is thanks to the large group of volunteers who made great efforts to ensure the event’s success. The evening ran smoothly, with beautiful decorations at the different locations and much appreciation from the audience. It was an evening not easily forgotten.

In June 1991, the committee was transformed into a foundation with the same name and purpose.
Later, the name was changed to “Paulus Folkertsma Stichting” (Paulus Folkertsma Foundation).
The foundation organizes concerts featuring the music of Paulus Folkertsma, and in collaboration with the radio and television station VPRO, a CD with a selection of his compositions was produced.
A second CD, “Mimerij,” and the songbook “Muzyk klinkt yn myn hert” (Music Sounds in My Heart), containing the complete solo song oeuvre of Paulus Folkertsma, were subsequently released. Both can be ordered through the foundation’s office or via our email address.

Furthermore, steps are being taken to bring about a revival of the opera “De Jonkerboer.” We will keep you informed about concerts where you can hear Folkertsma’s works on this website.
